Katsuhiro Terao – Four Interiors most popular works
Stylello 1 min read 133
Terao worked as a welder for 20 years at his father’s ironworks and so everything he sees is converted into an iron structure in his mind.
His drawings, which he calls “lans,” are filled with pillar lines and welding symbols.
When the factory closed down and his parents died, from 2003 he started to go to Atelier Incurve, a centre for people with learning disabilities and began to draw.
As mentioned, his theme has consistently been the steel frame and though materials and methods may vary from drawing, painting to sculpture, he obsessively draws steel constructions perhaps in a bid to recapture the happy days when his parents were alive and he was a welder.
